Champaign Fire Truck Taken On Joyride

CHAMPAIGN- A few minutes of fun could turn into serious trouble. This Champaign fire truck was stolen and taken on a joy ride.
Firefighters thought their truck was gone for good.
Fire trucks don't have keys. So someone jumped in and figured out how to push a button and get it started. The truck was parked at Neil and White street. It ended up at the Busey Bank parking lot on Springfield Avenue.
Firefighters say they were coming out of a store and saw the truck cruising around the corner. They all went running to catch it. They saw an older guy jump out and were able to give police a description. Luckily no one was hurt and the truck wasn't damaged.
The Fire Chief says in his 40-plus years of service he's never seen anything like this. He says his guys didn't do anything wrong but they might have to change the way they do things. Someone will have to stay with the truck at all times.
