Motorola Droid Android 2.0 boot up screen. Motorola will launch its first Android based smartphone Cliq through T Mobile, said Sanjay Jha, CEO of the Motorola’s Mobile Devices group at GigaOm's Mobilize 09 conference in San Francisco. T-Mobile's 3G network is currently available in 200 cities and covers more than 150 million people in the US.
"We will launch with two major carriers in North America, and multiple carriers outside the U.S. In addition, we have plans for several additional Android-based devices in the first quarter of 2010," he said.

The Cliq will be the first Motorola phone to use an upcoming Internet-based service called MotoBlur. MotoBlur will sync the Motorola phone with messaging, whether it be with social networking services including Facebook, Twitter and MySpace, SMS, or some other form of connectivity. User can simultaneously update a user's Twitter account, Facebook status just by touching a social status widget.

The slider touchphone features a 3.1-inch touchscreen, GPS , 3G connectivity, a five-megapixel camera with 24 FPS video, Google Maps with Street View, and 2GB MicroSD card with support for cards up to 32GB. It promises six hours of talk time and 325 hours of standby time.

The Cliq has Google‘s "best-in-class HTML browser", and a music player with a pre-loaded Amazon MP3 store application. The standard 3.5-mm headphone jack will let users plug in their own headsets.

The Android phone will be available from Motorola's partner, T-Mobile, later this fall. T-Mobile's chief technology and information officer Cole Brodman showed off the Cliq.
