Cabela's donates stuffed animals to Chadron State

CHADRON, Neb. (AP) - Chadron State College officials are glad they decided to ask Cabela's for a taxidermy donation because the outdoor outfitter responded with an offer of 65 display pieces.

The two truckloads of taxidermy displays arrived in Chadron earlier this month, and they will provide a boost for the college's wildlife management program.

The donation included full-body mounts of animals such as moose, elk, African lion, mountain lion, caribou, grizzly bear, zebra and deer.

Cabela's Mark Dowse says the Sidney, Neb. company donated the taxidermy because the animals were just being stored while the company delayed the expansion of its retail stores.

Professor Teresa Zimmerman says the mounts will be a fantastic visual aid for teaching anatomy and physiology.
