Zilker lawn not so green after three day ACL Festival

The City of Austin announced Oct. 5 Zilker Park's lawn is muddy after the Austin City Limits Music Festival, but it may not be destroyed.
The park will remain closed until the end of the month so the Austin’s Parks and Recreation Department can let the park dry out. Then, the damage to the lawn will be assessed. City officials believe the root system is intact and with limited use, may be salvaged.
The sod—still under mud Monday—was part of $2.5 million in improvements made to the park.
Currently, there is no cost estimate for the anticipated sod work, but according to the city, ACL organizer C3 is contractually obligated to pay for any damages. C3 also voluntarily agreed to help replant some of the grass that may have been lost during the three-day event.
