Garden Grove's Telles collapses, later dies

WESTMINSTER Garden Grove fullback Kevin Telles collapsed on the field during the Argonauts’ game at Westminster Friday night and later died in the hospital.

The game was called off when Telles collapsed with 2:11 remaining. Garden Grove won the nonleague game, 9-0.

Josh Sepulveda of Garden Grove made the big play early in the second half with a 67-yard interception return for a touchdown.

On a night when both teams offenses struggled, the defenses played up to the challenge.

Sepulveda intercepted a pass at the Garden Grove 33-yard line.. With no one even close to him, he raced to the end zone for the game’s lone touchdown.

The scoring started in the second quarter when a bad snap in the end zone led to a safety for the Argonauts.

With the game winding down in the final moments, Telles was injured with 2:11 remaining. The officials called the game
