Say it ain't so Method Man

It seems like every year a mega star gets sent to the pokey for not doing their taxes properly. Wait, it only seems that way because every year a mega star gets sent to the pokey for not doing their taxes properly. Last year it was Wesley Snipes, the year before that it was Ron Isley and so on and so on.
Well folks, the latest star to join this most exclusive of clubs is the one and only Method Man.

Damn.

It has been reported by MSN.com that Method failed to pay $32,799 in New York State Income Tax between 2004 and 2007. Method Man himself has not made comments about this turn of events, so we’re going to speculate on what might have happened.

The first idea comes from my editor: Maybe his management company dropped the ball? Talking about having to choke somebody! What if some intern that was supposed to file extension papers didn’t get an email (damn Blackberry’s)? If the management company made a mistake like that, do they send someone to jail in Methods place? Probably not.

The second idea is fast becoming more and more popular: What if celebrity isn’t all it’s cracked up to be? When you see Method Man from the outside looking in the assumption might be that he has it all. Unfortunately the truth is that he doesn’t have it all, what he doesn’t have to be specific is $33,000.

The biggest smack in the face behind all this is the sad and simple truth: People with a lot of money are apparently hard headed. How can I paint with such broad strokes you ask? Ask me that question in about six months when some other actor/athlete/singer is either A) Convicted of Tax Evasion B) Caught with drugs on their person C) found with a live/dead hooker/gigolo or D) all of the above.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, really smart people learn from other people’s mistakes as well as their own. Just remember, Method Man and Robert Downey Jr. made mistakes so that you can learn from them, don’t let them make mistakes in vain. Pay your taxes and stay off drugs… well at least the hard drugs anyway ; )
